US restricts travel from India from May 4, cites 'extraordinarily high' cases

The US will restrict travel from India from Tuesday (May 4) in view of the spike in cases of COVID-19, the White House said. "The policy will be implemented in light of extraordinarily high COVID-19 caseloads and multiple variants circulating in India," it added. As per the new rules, "the entry as nonimmigrants of certain additional persons" will be suspended.
