US sanctions on banks blow to ordinary citizens: Russia

US sanctions against Sberbank and Alfabank banks are a "direct blow to the Russian population [and] ordinary citizens", TASS news agency cited Russia's US Ambassador Anatoly Antonov as saying. Sberbank holds a third of Russia's total banking assets, while Alfabank is the fourth largest financial institution in the country. The sanctions were imposed in response to Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.
