US scientists create world's smallest ever memory unit

Scientists from the University of Texas at Austin in the US have created the smallest memory device yet, with the cross section area measuring a single square nanometer. Some applications could be ultra-dense storage and radio-frequency communication systems, according to the researchers. The current research builds on the "atomristor", which was the thinnest memory storage device two years ago.
