US scrutinising Meta, other tech firms' acqui-hire deals: Report

US Federal Trade Commission is scrutinising big technology firms that hire employees of a startup instead of buying companies outright to sidestep antitrust review, Bloomberg reported. "We're (examining) these acqui-hires to make sure they're not an attempt to get around," agency's Chairman Andrew Ferguson said. In past few months, Meta, Amazon, Google, and NVIDIA have made such acqui-hire deals.
