US starts sending first $1,400 cheques under COVID-19 relief package

US government has begun sending first batch of $1,400 (over ₹1 lakh) stimulus payment under President Joe Biden's coronavirus-relief package on Friday, Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced. The first​ batch of payments will be sent by direct deposit with some people receiving it as early as this weekend, it added. Biden signed the $1.9 trillion-coronavirus package into law on Thursday.
