US startup fires 1 in every 5 employees to give million-dollar packages to the other 4
US-based startup ClickUp is firing 22% of its employees, or about 1 in every 5 people, despite its business being "strongest ever", CEO Zeb Evans said. "I made this decision, and I won it," he said, adding that the layoffs aren't to cut costs but to give million-dollar packages to remaining employees. "AI doesn't make everyone more productive," he said.
