US state enacts law offering mandatory paid leave 'for any reason'

The state of Illinois in US has enacted a law requiring employers to offer mandatory paid leave to employees "for any reason". The law, which will come into effect next year, states that employees needn't explain the reason for their absence as long as they provide notice. Employees will accrue an hour of paid leave for every 40 hours worked.
