US threatens sanctions on shipping firms paying toll to Iran to cross Hormuz

The US has warned shipping companies that they could face sanctions for paying any toll to Iran to secure safe passage for their vessels through Strait of Hormuz. The Office of Foreign Assets Control cautioned that both US and non-US entities are at risk of sanctions regardless of payment method. This comes as the Strait remains effectively blocked by Iran.
