US to invest $170 billion, increase hiring for ICE, Border Patrol

US will be increasing immigration crackdown in 2026 with billions in new funding, reported Reuters. ICE and Border Patrol will get $170 billion in funding through September 2029, a massive surge over existing annual $19 billion budget. The government also plans to hire thousands more agents, open new detention centres, and partner with firms to track people without legal status.
