US to sell F-16s, missiles to Philippines amid tensions with China

The US approved the potential sale of 12 F-16 fighter jets, Sidewinder and Harpoon missiles to the Philippines in three separate deals, the State Department said on Thursday. The deals have a combined value of more than $2.5 billion, it added. This comes amid a dispute between the Philippines and China in the waters of the South China Sea.
