US tried forcing Italy to cancel deal with China’s Nuctech: Report

The US tried to pressure Italy to cancel government contracts with Chinese security equipment supplier Nuctech, Bloomberg reported. The roughly €20 million deal (around ₹200 crore) involved scanning machines used by Italian customs officials. US officials warned that images captured by the machines could be accessed by Chinese authorities, posing a national security risk.
