US warns it will send fighter jets into Canadian airspace if F-35 deal not finalised
The US has warned Canada not to backtrack from buying US-made 88 Lockheed Martin F-35 fighter jets. US Ambassador to Canada Pete Hoekstra warned that reduced Canadian purchases might necessitate re-evaluation of security cooperation, CBC News reported. US would likely need to purchase more of the advanced fighter aircraft and would fly them more often into Canadian airspace, he said.
