US warship left with no AC & toilets after losing power for 4 days near China, later towed
USS Benfold, a guided-missile destroyer, lost power for four days after a generator failure while operating in the South China Sea last month. The power failure left the 10,000-tonne warship unable to manoeuvre independently and disrupted essential services, including its toilets, kitchen facilities, air conditioning and drinking water. The ship was eventually towed to the Philippines for repairs.
