US-based First Solar plans $684-mn manufacturing unit in Tamil Nadu

US-based solar panel maker First Solar, Inc on Friday announced that it will invest $684 million (₹5,087 crore) to build a solar photovoltaic module manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu. The facility will have more than three gigawatts (GW) capacity and likely become operational in the second half of 2023. The manufacturing facility will reportedly create around 1,000 jobs in India.
