Use of restraint is US policy: Jaishankar as Indian deportees seen with handcuffs

External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar said deportations from US are organised and executed by their government's Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) authority. "The SOP of deportation by aircraft used by ICE...effective from 2012 provides for use of restraint," he said, adding that women and children aren't restrained. Indian deportees were seen handcuffed with chains in their legs.
