Uttarakhand hikes widow, old-age pensions to ₹1400

The Uttarakhand government on Friday decided to hike the pensions for widows and people over 60 years of age in the state from ₹1,200 to ₹1,400. The government also decided to provide maternity leave to female guest teachers. Notably, the decisions have been taken ahead of next year's Assembly polls in the state.
