Vaccines saved 20 million lives from COVID-19 in first year: Study

COVID-19 vaccines have saved almost 20 million lives worldwide, as per Lancet study that analysed the data on vaccination rates, coronavirus fatalities and excess death records from 185 countries. Vaccines prevented 4.2 million deaths in India, 1.9 million in US, 1 million in Brazil and 5,07,000 in UK. The numbers would've been "catastrophic" if vaccines weren't available, a researcher said.
