A South American species of vampire bat, which was previously thought to feed only on birds' blood, has been found feeding on human blood. Brazil-based scientists analysed the faeces of bats and found human blood in three of the excrement samples of the hairy-legged vampire bat. Scientists suggested that human disruption of the bat's habitat made it change its diet.
