Vance calls Canada a 'state', then says 'It was actually an accident'

US Vice President JD Vance called Canada a "state" during a political event in Maine before quickly correcting himself. "We have to remember, Canada is a state...sorry, Freudian slip," Vance said while discussing US-Canada trade talks. He then added, "That was actually an accident." His remark came after President Donald Trump repeatedly referred to Canada as the "51st state".
