Varapuzha man held for snatching elderly woman's gold chain

Varapuzha police arrested 45-year-old Umesh for allegedly snatching a 68-year-old woman's two-and-a-half-sovereign gold chain while she was walking home after visiting temple. Police traced him using CCTV footage and arrested him in Cheranalloor. The stolen chain was recovered after he pledged it for ₹1.5 lakh. He reportedly told police he committed the theft to fund his gambling addiction.
