Venice levies ₹446 entry fee on day-trippers to curb mass tourism

Venice has launched a trial scheme to charge day-trippers for entering the Italian city in a bid to curb mass tourism. A fee of €5 (approximately ₹446) will be levied upon visitors. The 'Venice Access Fee' is being introduced on 29 busy days throughout 2024, mostly weekends from May to July. There's no limit to the number of tickets available.
