Vesting of founders’ equity can take upto 8 years!

Imagine one founder leaves after a year. It’s unfair for them to keep their entire equity. So founder’s equity also vests. There is no fixed vesting criteria. They might have 25% after 1y, then monthly for 3y. Or they may start fully vested but give company buyback rights. There can be 8y vesting periods for founders of billion-dollar startups!
