Veteran ecologist Madhav Gadgil, known for his work on the conservation of the Western Ghats, passed away aged 83 in Pune on Wednesday. “I am very sorry to share the sad news that my father passed away late last night,” his son, Siddhartha Gadgil, said. Madhav Gadgil also served as a member of the Scientific Advisory Council to Prime Minister.
