The year 2016 is a leap year, which occurs once in four years. February 29 is a rare date as it adds one extra day to the year which normally has 365 days and one-fourth day. The adjustment of the one-fourth days, into a complete day, is done to keep the earth's rotations in line with the clocks and calendars.
