Vietnam elects Communist Party chief To Lam as President

Vietnam's lawmakers on Tuesday unanimously elected Communist Party Secretary General ​To Lam as the country's President for next five years, making him the most powerful Vietnamese leader in decades. Amid the move, which breaks Vietnam's tradition of collective leadership, Parliament also elected Le Minh Hung as Prime Minister. Lam said he prioritises maintaining stability and rapid development.
