Vietnam reports first case of UK coronavirus variant

Vietnam's Health Ministry on Saturday reported its first case of the new coronavirus variant that emerged in the UK. The variant was detected in a 44-year-old woman returning to Vietnam from Britain, who was quarantined upon arrival and tested COVID-19 positive on December 24, it added. "Researchers ran gene-sequencing on the patient's sample and found the strain," it further said.
