Vietnam zoos report death of 47 tigers due to bird flu outbreak

A deadly outbreak of H5N1 bird flu has killed 47 tigers, along with three lions and a panther, at two zoos in southern Vietnam. The National Centre for Animal Health Diagnosis confirmed the virus as the cause. A zoo official told Reuters that the animals had likely fallen ill after being fed meat from chickens which had been infected.
