Vijayanagara to become Karnataka's 31st district, to be carved out of Ballari

Vijayanagara is set to become Karnataka's 31st district as the state Cabinet on Wednesday gave 'in principle' approval to carve out a new district from Ballari. The decision was taken during an informal discussion, Karnataka Law Minister said. Earlier, reports said out of 11 taluks in Ballari, five will be part of Ballari, while six taluks will constitute Vijayanagara district.
