Violinist drops rare €1M violin in the middle of a concert
A live performance at Sibelius Hall turned dramatic when conductor Matthew Halls accidentally struck Elina Vähälä’s €1 million Guadagnini violin with his baton. The 18th-century instrument flipped mid-air, but Vähälä miraculously cushioned the fall with her foot. Despite a minor seam opening, the soloist’s quick reflexes saved the rare violin, allowing the concert to resume.
