Virudhunagar village caste-name issue moves towards renaming

The long-pending demand to remove the caste-linked name “Paraicheri” from a hamlet in Virudhunagar district has now moved towards implementation, months after South First first reported the issue and highlighted the continued use of the name in official records. Tamil Nadu government has now initiated action to rename “Paraicheri” as “Vadakku Achamthavizhtthan”.
