Virus outbreak kills 72 tigers in Thailand, popular tourist attraction closed
A virus outbreak in northern Thailand has killed 72 captive tigers at Tiger Kingdom facilities in Chiang Mai province, prompting a temporary closure of Mae Rim and Mae Taeng parks. Laboratory tests detected canine distemper virus with Mycoplasma bacterial infection in carcasses, which don't spread to humans. The remaining tigers have been relocated while the enclosures are being disinfected.
