Visuals show Antarctica's Hektoria Glacier retreating at record pace

NASA has shared visuals of Antarctica's Hektoria Glacier retreating at record-setting pace. Between January 2022-March 2023, the glacier lost about 25 km in length. That included a two-month period in which the terminus retreated more than 8 km, the highest rate of grounded glacial ice loss observed in modern history. Scientists found its particular geometry enabled the rapid change.
