Vodafone Idea ordered to pay ₹50,000 to senior citizen for mental harassment

A consumer commission directed Vodafone Idea (now Vi) to pay ₹50,000 in compensation to a Mumbai-based senior citizen for mental harassment. He alleged abrupt disconnection of mobile services and inability to use international roaming pack data during his visits to Kenya and Zimbabwe. After being out of service for 40 days, he was compelled to pay a bill of ₹86,290.
