Volkswagen engineer gets 40-month prison over emissions scam

A Volkswagen engineer has been sentenced to 40 months in prison and fined $200,000 (₹1.27 crore) for his role in helping the carmaker cheat US emissions tests. James Liang is the first Volkswagen employee to be prosecuted in the scandal, which cost the company over $24 billion. In 2015, Volkswagen admitted to fitting emissions cheating devices in 11 million cars.
