Voting begins in Nepal's 1st general polls since Gen Z protests toppled govt

Voting has officially begun in Nepal’s first general elections, months after Gen Z-led protests forced the resignation of PM KP Sharma Oli in 2025. Nearly 19 million people have registered to vote, including eight lakh first-time voters (Gen Z), to elect 275 members of the House of Representatives, Nepal’s lower parliamentary chamber. Over 3,000 candidates are contesting the elections.
