VRS for 300 Assam Police officers over excess drinking: CM Himanta

About 300 Assam Police officers and jawans, who are "habitual drinkers", will be offered the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS), Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Sunday, adding that the process has already begun. "Consumption of too much alcohol has damaged their bodies," Sarma further said. "It is an old rule, but we had not implemented it earlier," he added.
