Walmart paid $3.5 billion to buy Flipkart shares this year
Walmart, in an exchange filing, revealed it paid $3.5 billion to "acquire shares from certain Flipkart non-controlling interest holders" during the six months ended July 31. The amount was also spent to "settle the liability to former non-controlling interest holders of PhonePe". Tiger Global, Accel and Flipkart Co-founder Binny Bansal reportedly exited the startup in July by selling their stake.
