Walmart to fire nearly 1,500 workers at Atlanta fulfillment center

Walmart will fire nearly 1,500 workers at a facility located in Atlanta's Fulton Parkway that fulfills orders placed via the retail chain's e-commerce platform. This comes as Walmart plans to expand capabilities of its fulfillment centers through automation. The retailer on Thursday announced that it would acquire robotics and automation firm Alert Innovation to speed up deliveries.
