Waymo gets permit to offer driverless test rides in California

Alphabet's self-driving vehicles unit Waymo has received California Public Utilities Commission's permit to participate in a driverless pilot programme. Under the programme, passengers will be able to ride in test autonomous vehicles operating without a driver. With this permit, Waymo may offer driverless passenger service throughout San Francisco and portions of Palo Alto, among other cities.
