WB CM hikes honorarium for purohits, muezzins by ₹500 hrs before poll announcement

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee announced a ₹500 hike in honorariums for priests and muezzins on Sunday. "Their service sustains the spiritual and social life of our communities," Banerjee said. This comes just hours ahead of the Election Commission's scheduled announcement of dates for Assembly elections in four states, including West Bengal and one Union Territory of Puducherry.
