After Congress broke off its long-standing alliance with DMK and extended support to Vijay's TVK for government formation in Tamil Nadu, DMK said the Congress had exposed its "true nature". DMK reminded Congress of its support during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, claiming that DMK projected Rahul Gandhi as the prime ministerial face even when Congress itself appeared hesitant.
