While referring to 1971 war between India and Pakistan that led to liberation of Bangladesh, Poland's Ambassador to India, Dr. Piotr Antoni Świtalski, said, "Clearly, we were on your (India) side." "Polish tanks were used by the Indian Army to liberate Bangladesh. It's a famous story...Poland was the third country in the world to recognise Bangladesh's independence," he added.
