Webb Telescope captures sharpest images of Horsehead Nebula

The James Webb Space Telescope captured detailed images of the Horsehead Nebula. Ultraviolet light from young, large stars creates a warm, neutral gas and dust area in the nebula. This area is between the fully ionized gas surrounding the stars and the clouds where they were formed. These observations were taken in the Webb GTO program #1192 (PI: K. Misselt).
