West Bengal witnessed its most peaceful polls in over 20 years, with zero deaths and no serious injuries reported in 2026 Assembly elections, NDTV reported. This marks a big shift in the state's usually violent history, with between 5 to 75 deaths being recorded in every major election cycle. As per NCRB, it averaged about 20 political killings/year between 1999-2016.
