West Bengal to give ₹5 lakh to 60 Rath Yatra committees: CM Adhikari

West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari announced on Monday that state government will provide financial assistance of ₹5 lakh each to 60 Jagannath Rath Yatra committees. "The old rathas [chariots]...need renovation. I hope that the committees will use the money for repair and renovation," Adhikari said. Notably, this is reportedly the first time government is providing financial assistance to committees.
