West Bengal to shut 250 private madrasas by December

West Bengal Cabinet approved closure of 250 government-recognised private madrasas with low enrolment and poor infrastructure. They may operate until December. The Cabinet also cleared recruitment of 1.51 lakh personnel across departments, including 16,000 in state and Kolkata Police. Show-cause notices were issued to 100 other madrasas over alleged irregularities.
