West Bengal to shut 933 schools with zero students

The West Bengal government will permanently shut 933 state-aided primary, upper-primary and secondary schools that have had zero students for periods of five to 20 years, state education minister Dipak Barman said. He directed district administrations to assess the possibility of reviving them. The government is also considering transferring unused assets from these schools to other departments.
