Western Digital on Wednesday agreed to buy SanDisk for about $19 billion in a combination of cash and stock. The offer values SanDisk at $86.50 per share. The transaction is expected to close in the third calendar quarter of 2016 and after closing, Sanjay Mehrotra, CEO of SanDisk, is expected to join the Western Digital Board of Directors.
