Western Railway local revenue rises despite drop in ridership

Mumbai’s Western Railway has seen an interesting shift. Even though fewer people are travelling locally, revenue has gone up. The rise comes mainly from AC local trains, which charge higher fares and are in demand among passengers preferring comfort. Hybrid work and alternative transport options have reduced crowds, but premium travel has boosted earnings to ₹2.39 crore.
