Whale sharks may live up to 100 yrs, remnants of Cold War bombs reveal

A team of researchers has discovered that whale sharks, which can grow as long as a school bus, may live up to 100 years. To determine the age, scientists traced carbon-14, a radioactive isotope that is a byproduct of atomic bomb tests conducted in the 1950s and 60s, in two deceased shark's skeletons. Whale sharks are considered to be endangered.
